FAQs

  • Do I pay for the wig or shipping?

Absolutely not. At The Butterfly Club, our mission is rooted in compassion and support — we provide wigs completely free of charge to women and teenagers experiencing hair loss due to cancer. This includes the cost of the wig itself as well as shipping. We believe that access to comfort and confidence during a cancer journey shouldn’t come with a price tag, and we’re proud to make this part of the process as stress-free as possible.

  • I have some wigs from my cancer journey — do you accept donations?

We truly appreciate your generous spirit and willingness to give back. However, at this time, we are unable to accept donated wigs. This decision is based on strict healthcare guidelines set forth by our governing board, which are in place to ensure the highest standards of hygiene, quality, and safety for the women and teens we serve. Thank you for understanding — and for thinking of us.

  • Do you accept human hair donations, or know of organizations that do?

We do not accept human hair donations, nor do we offer any hair processing services. At this time, we also do not have partnerships with or recommendations for verified businesses or charities that accept human hair. If you are looking to donate, we encourage researching reputable organizations with clear guidelines and transparent practices.

  • Do you ship internationally?

Unfortunately, the Butterfly Club is unable to fulfill international requests. Due to the high cost and logistical challenges of shipping overseas, our services are currently limited to recipients within the United States. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and hope you’re able to find the support you need locally. Thank you kindly for understanding.

  • How do I request a wig from The Butterfly Club?

Requesting a wig is easy and meant to be as stress-free as possible. Simply visit our “Request a Wig” page, then email us a few required items that help confirm your medical journey — including photos and a letter of diagnosis. After you submit everything, we’ll schedule a FaceTime or WhatsApp call. From there, our Butterfly Club team gets to work — and just like that, the magic begins!

  • How long does it take to receive my wig?

Wigs are selected and shipped after your request and your call with us. We do our best to process and fulfill requests as quickly as possible. Please know we are committed to getting your wig to you with care and efficiency, and we deeply appreciate your patience as we continue to support every woman and teen with love, dignity, and respect.

  • How to Care for a Synthetic Wig:

    🚫 AVOID:

Heat (blow dryers, curling irons, straighteners — unless labeled heat-safe).

Regular hair products (they can break down the fibers).

Sleeping, swimming, or showering with the wig on.

Brushing when wet — always wait until it's fully dry.

    🧼 1. WASHING YOUR WIG

    How often?

Every 6–8 wears, or sooner if it feels sticky, dull, or has product buildup.

    Steps:

Detangle with a wide-tooth comb or your fingers, starting from the ends and working up.

Fill a sink or basin with cool water (not hot — heat can damage synthetic fibers).

Add a capful of synthetic wig shampoo, mix gently.

Submerge the wig and gently swish it for 1–2 minutes.

    Rinse thoroughly with cool water.

Apply synthetic wig conditioner (optional), then rinse again.

    💨 2. DRYING YOUR WIG

Gently blot with a towel — do not wring or twist.

Place it on a wig stand or tall object (like a can or bottle) to air dry completely.

Do not use a hairdryer or expose it to heat.

    💇‍♀️ 3. STYLING TIP

No heat tools (unless your wig is labeled heat-friendly).

Use wig-safe styling products only — regular hairspray can damage fibers.

Use fingers or a wig brush made for synthetic hair to style gently.

If heat-safe, use low heat (under 275°F / 135°C) very carefully.

    🧢 4. STORING YOUR WIG

Store on a wig stand to keep its shape.

Keep it in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight.

Use a satin or silk bag for travel to prevent tangling.
