* Wilma Richards, Founder
After surviving cancer herself, Wilma inquired as to where she could donate her used wigs for women in need. Upon realizing there was no place to donate, Wilma started "The Butterfly Club" in 2005 with the help of a network of committed volunteers.
How did The Butterfly Club get its wings?
In 2005, Wilma Richards, The Butterfly Club founder and a cancer survivor herself, recognized a need for this unique charity. After her recovery, Wilma phoned local and state cancer centers to inquire where she could donate her wigs to women in need. Surprisingly, Wilma discovered no such organization existed. Well, not for long!
With what little money she had, Wilma founded The Butterfly Club. However, Wilma soon realized that "The Club" needed more help. So The Butterfly Club was first started and raised funds through special dinners held at the Butterfly Home.
Since its inception, The Butterfly Club has incorporated as a non-profit 501(c)3, added additional fundraisers, and has started expanding its network to reach out for much needed donations. Our clients receive their wigs and style from Wilma at no charge, ever. Wilma is Licensed Owner-Operator at Visage European Fusion Day Spa in Sierra Vista, AZ. Clients are treated in a warm and comfortable spa environment.
The Butterfly Club is a volunteer-based non-profit working towards one goal... sharing, giving and helping women and children fighting cancer. Cancer can take so much from us, and we hope to assist women present themselves with dignity.
